X-Rays - Before and after the surgery

I finally got copies of my X-ray plates. I didn't have an awesome way of getting them into the computer so I threw them on my lightbox and took pictures of them with my 50mm lens on the camera. I think the camera got all of the detail that was on the film so I think it worked fine.A quick aside: Why do I have a lightbox? I have the full gear for a darkroom and a light table is one of the requisite pieces of kit to do proper darkrooming. Even if I had a scanner, I doubt I would have something big enough to scan the (I'm guessing) 11x17 films I have. Here are the two before plates:

Femoral neck fracture. Anterior view. X-RayFemoral neck fracture. Anterior view; alternate view with knee pointed out. X-Ray

Here's the after with the hardware. These are going to be the same angles as before.

Femoral neck fracture. Anterior view. Set and pinned with three titanium screws. X-RayFemoral neck fracture. Anterior view, alternate view knee pointed out. Fracture set and pinned with three titanium screws. X-Ray

Now I want to point out the different angles that my femoral head was pointing before and after.

Before and after comparison of my femoral neck fracture. X-Ray

I tried to scale and rotate to keep as much of the same angle as I could. The left X-Ray is identical to what the doctor at the urgent care had access to. In fact he had a better view since he was looking at a full pelvic plate as well.

My left leg's femoral head/neck looked like the picture on the right (without the pins of course), the right leg looked as above.

How do you mis-read that as a "chip?" What the hell, man?

In any case, feel free to click on any of the above pictures for mega-super high-res versions.  :-)
