South Lake Union Food Truck Rodeo
Well, this is out of order with yesterday's post about the sunset that followed the rodeo... But that's OK with me. :-)En had found some flyers about a food truck rodeo. Of course there was a URL involved as well.Turns out there were 45 food trucks signed up to ply their wares in a couple of blocks of Seattle just north of Denny Park in the South Lake Union are of town. I needed to swing by work to drop something off anyway so we'd be in the area.We walked past the universal flags that let you know the street is closed. In case you need to read it, that's available as well. The highlight was a truck we didn't even eat at: the giant pig that is Maximus Minimus. We didn't try it because En just ate there a few days ago.The license plate screwed into the snout makes it legal. I have to say that this is an impressive looking truck. I hear that over lunch they regularly sell out of food.We wound up trying out a total of 4 of the trucks: three for the main course and a desert.A cool thing is I'm recognizing most of these trucks as the guys that hang out around Amazon over lunch. I've eaten at a good number of them.First up is Bigfood:We got a great Thai-inspired pulled pork taco like thing called a Sasquatch.Next was the awesomely-decorated Happy GrillmoreSome chicken over sweet potato fries with a delicious cajun sauce and cheese sprinkled on top!(editor's note: at this point George ducks to avoid a jab from Ennie)It's at this point that I started eating more than taking pictures. We had a some great yakisoba from the Kaosamai truck.Finished up with ice cream sandwiches from the Sweet Wheels truck.

I love the way that Seattle, like a lot of towns, is really embracing the notion of food trucks. It's a great idea and it seems that it's a win - win situation. Jobs are created and people get fed.
