Mele Kalikimaka
Listening to a classic mix of Christmas songs on the Sonos we caught the song "Mele Kalikimaka." Of course both of us heard the song countless times in the past.But was it really "the thing to say?"As it turns out: yes. It's just the way to say Merry Christmas if you don't have some of the phonemes that are typical in English. Hawaiian doesn't have an "r" sound; it's just "l." "Mele" is "Merry" without those darned "r"s. Same with the soft "s" sound -- that turns into a "k" sound. Coupled with the lack of "r" and some added rules that forbid consonants being next to each other or at the end of a word... You wind up with "Kalikimaka." :-P

Dinner tonight was absolutely stunning. Ennie can cook with the best of them. Pepper crusted Filet Mignon with blue cheese on the top, roasted brussle sprouts (to fulfill the cabbage requirement) and some fresh baked bread.
Ahh -- gratuitous food porn! :-P
Joining the mix was a bottle of wine I didn't even realize we had.
I bought it back perhaps in 2005 or so. It sat in the basement since then... moving with us to Seattle this year.
When I got it was a kinda-expensive bottle. More expensive given my situation at the time. I looked up the price now. :eek: If only investments did as well! Hell, if my house did that I would've been happier selling it!
But its long since paid for so that's not to worry about now. Time for enjoyment.

It's amazing to think of time passing like that. Ten years is a long time. In 2002 I was with a great crew of people at Comparison Market. Every day I miss it. Ennie was working at a dead-end real estate job. A year before that we got the house in Solon -- our first house after getting married. Of course we were all in northeast Ohio at the time.
The good times... Time brought us a brother-in-law and a niece and a nephew in the mix.
My brother has since moved to California.
Bad things too. My father passed away a few years ago. I still miss him. The company I worked for went of of business (sold... but effectively gone away). We had a rough year and a bit with the new company.
Then other good things: in the past year we moved to Seattle after getting a job at Amazon.
I guess this isn't a sorted list -- or even a coherent list. It's just a set of thoughts. It's amazing when you think about time passing.
