Lower... lower...
They arrived last week and I picked them up from the FFL yesterday. I overpaid by standards from half a year ago... but not too much. You are looking at, what the BATFE considers, two guns. These are two AR-15 lower receivers. They are the part of the gun that has the serial number stamped onto it.So, why buy?Because they are a lot cheaper than guns -- you know, the kind that actually shoot bullets and has a trigger and stuff. Even though they are not guns, they are guns in a twisted, roundabout kind of way. They are the only part that needs to get shipped to an FFL. The other parts, like a barrel, upper receiver and trigger group for instance, are all just pieces of metal as far as anyone is concerned. In time I'll turn one of these into a match rifle for some competition shooting -- something like high-power service rifle or something similar. The other... well, who knows? Maybe something tailored to three-gun? Or perhaps a 300 AAC? All nice options. The nice thing is I have them snug in my safe. Options are always a good thing to have.
