Amazon Premium

I decided to pull the trigger on buying a good (well, hopefully) storage subsystem for my house. Even though it's simple to have just a bunch of drives in external enclosures hooked up with FireWire, it's starting to get annoying to shuffle things around to level the space among four drives. After my horrid story with the Drobo I decided to do something else. This time it is a Synology 8-slot unit with a small pile of WD Red 3TB drives.I've already gotten over the "not cheap" part of the equation. I'll have 12TB of redundant storage with two (maybe three) levels of extra backup including off-site. Yes, I get paranoid with my data. I can't help it. (The third level might be something in AWS -- Glacier -- for things I truly consider critical)So I can buy the whole kit and caboodle from Amazon and get two-day shipping but pay tax. Alternately I could buy it from Newegg and get it in three or four days and save around $60. Here's where I have to consider the options. My decision -- and not based on delivery speed -- is Amazon. This isn't because I work there, but because I trust customer service. If things go horribly pear-shaped I know that someone will make things right. I know because it's happened in the past as well. To me that $60 is money well spent on insurance ensuring that things will work out well in the end.
