Hypocrisy
Today En and I had a debate about the Church -- the Holy Roman Catholic Church.Of course I took an extreme position on the topic. My abject hatred of the institution is easy to read. While I tend to think that folks that happen to belong to the church can be given a pass. I think that religion is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. It might be argued that in the past it might have had a purpose, but now it no longer has a place in modern world. If you happen to believe I shrug as long as you don't do anything harmful. Here's where it gets interesting. What about nuns and priests who really want to do good?My view: You can do good without being associated with a murderous organization. By one doing good works in the name of said group you can convert people. People who give their time, energy and (far more importantly) money to the cause. If, by your actions, you cause someone to convert to something that is evil, what responsibility do you have in that matter?
