One year - Part 2
One year ago today I was in Day 1 South, one of the many Amazon office buildings in South Lake Union, for my interview. It seems like yesterday. It seems like a lifetime ago.We flew in on a late Friday March 30th flight and traveled through Minneapolis on the way to Seattle. We got in quite late in a dreary dark drizzle. It was midnight by the time we got to the hotel in the rental car.Ennie, on top of it all, was sick with something that was clogging her up.Desperate, we found a bar for a nightcap at the only bar we could find that was open. All the while En was drilling me with sample interview questions.Saturday we rolled down the hill to the Public Market. More drilling.Sunday was a blur. I know I walked to the campus to make sure I knew where I was going. Honestly, I don't remember much of that day. I'm pretty sure we had dinner at a cool Elvis-themed Mexican joint in Belltown though.Monday. It was a long interview lasting from 11AM to almost 4PM with six folks in the mix.I might be one of the few people that left more energized at the end of it all. It went quick and I had fun.Ok, I might have a strange view of the word "fun," but that's OK.I felt the interview went well.We hurried back to the airport and caught a redeye back to Cleveland. Traveling through San Francisco we caught the last flight out and landed back in Cleveland at 6:30AM and tried to get ready for work the next day.The stress was just beginning.
