Homosexuality and the NBA

So Jason Collins came out as gay on Monday.Why the big deal?In other sports -- mainly women's sports -- there's no real big deal. No talk about what happens in the locker room.The moment that there's a gay dude in the locker room there's all sorts of angst.While thinking about this I realized this is the same argument about rape.I can hear a collective "huh" from the readers.It's the argument that men, biologically, can't help themselves but to fuck anything that moves. The argument that "oh it's the way she dressed, he didn't have a chance, his dick just slipped in without him knowing" or "oh my god, he saw me naked in the locker room, his dick just slipped into my ass without me knowing" are the same argument.The more I thought about this, this really is a guy thing. Both from a defense perspective and nothing but projection. This is insulting to men in general.This is messed up thinking. This is all about not taking responsibility for what is going on. Not just that but it's providing an excuse for rapists at the same time. It is lending silent credence to the idea that a dude has no control over his cock. This is wrong.Everyone, and I do mean everyone, is responsible for their own actions. No one is exempt. No one is given a pass based on whatever their genitals tell them to do.This is why having someone who is gay in the NBA is not a problem. To say otherwise is to say that all men, gay and straight, are nothing but a bunch of testosterone driven lunatics who shouldn't be held accountable for their actions.
