Leaks and survailance
It has been pointed out that a lot of people are now making noise about the random surveillance that the government has been doing. Many of those people didn't make noise before.Of course it is now public knowledge that this has been going on lately. When the whole Patriot Act was brought to bear on the American people the first thing I did was send my first check to the ACLU. This was before I was blogging of course. In many ways though this was a problem of expectations. I think everyone going into it knew that George W. Bush was a dolt. A collective "well there he goes again" was the reaction I felt. It was a reaction to whatever his handlers were telling him to do.Almost eight years later I put up a sign in our front yard for the then candidate Barack Obama. It was the first check I had written to a political candidate. Now, another five-and-a-half years hence we're looking at the same problem. We're looking at the same problem that's been doubled-down on by the candidate I helped elect. Now I am making noise.I feel this is far worse than President Bush; this is an outright betrayal. This is doing a 180 on his own word. This is everything I voted against. That is why I'm making noise now.
