Taking a side on politics

I read an article yesterday that really resonated with me. It's a piece in the Washington Post by Ezra Klein. It struck me because it's really showed what I was seeing around me but I couldn't put into words myself.The gist of the story is that people find a tribe and work really hard to justify their position even if they don't agree with it. En's mom is all aflutter about Obamacare and how it's the death of America. The problem is that it's a conservative position from a bit over 20 years ago. In fact it's modeled on a Republican plan in Massachusetts. But the fact that the other side proposed it this time around makes it evil -- especially since your side says it's evil.When your side tells you something, people tend to agree. When the other side says something it's evil.It's an us versus them attitude.I guess the reason I'm frustrated is that I'm smack in the middle of it. I get pissed at both sides and just want them both to leave me alone. Since I don't have as side I somehow feel I can see a bit clearer since I don't really have a horse in the race; of course everyone thinks that too -- that they're right and the other side is wrong.It is an interesting read regardless... how you can sell out your own interested because your team tells you so.
