The draw of film
I grew up with film cameras. My first real camera was (and still is) a Minolta X-700 with a 50mm lens. It, like almost all cameras of the era, was a 35mm camera. From there it progressed to a series of Canon cameras that were also film.It was during this time that I was running my own darkroom in my laundry room. I was shooting quite a bit of black and white film in that era. It was cheap. Not as cheap as digital is now, but still pretty cost effective. Then I was idle for a while. Between film cameras and digital taking the reins was a time of much turmoil. The Canon 5D-mk2 brought me into the modern era. It was, and continues to be, a fine camera. Then I got the Leica stuff and it's awesome as well. But as I'm shooting I keep getting to urge to run some film through the camera... I don't know if I'll print them with a conventional enlarger, but scanning is a valid alternative for most people.Developing is easy. Film, especially purchased in bulk, is cheap. I have the cameras... and I can get a cheap used film Leica if I want to boot.Maybe for Christmas. :-)
