Forcing Functions
I was out and about today and the timing of my vacation this summer (well, late spring) came up. I realized that I hadn't made firm plans about when I was going to go on my ride. Then I thought about the F1 news -- that Fernando Alonzo was going to make a one-time switch to the IndyCar series to run the Indianapolis 500 instead of racing at Monaco. Monaco, in case you've been living under a rock, is the crown jewel of the Formula 1 calendar. Of course, the Indy 500 is the queen of the North American racing. But to make the switch like this is unheard of in this generation. I can't remember the last time something like this happened with a leading driver like this. Fernando isn't leading really since his car is a dog, but up and down the pit lane he's renowned as one of the best. So, I found the forcing function: I need to be back in town for the Sunday before Memorial Day. Easy enough to simply work backwards from there.
