Ownership v. Responsibility
There's much to be said for owning something. When the thing you own stops working it's on you to fix -- and that's not a problem at all.The problem exhibits itself when you have responsibility for something you don't own. Thing break and your feet are held to the fire but you don't have the ability to fix things. That's a problem. The moment when ownership and responsibility diverge is when things break for good. You may be responsible for something but you can't fix it... or maybe you're responsible for something but can't be bothered to own it.Both are problems. But people shy away from both.
