Covid-19
The more I look at the outright panic that the country and the world is going through, the more I think of this as needless.
I’m not saying that covid-19 is good. But I’m not saying it’s as bad as everyone out there is making it out to be.
From everything I’ve read it’s not an overly dangerous virus. It’s a bad cold — colds being coronaviruses as well.
To put things in perspective, in the past few years the US alone has had between around 20,000 to 60,000 deaths per year from the common influenza virus. It affects the same groups of people as covid-19. But you don’t hear about this as much as the few people that have died from the current scare.
I’m not minimizing any deaths. But at the same time you really have to look at the bigger picture to get a bit of perspective.
This is not something to panic about. This isn’t the Spanish Flu. This isn’t SARS. This is a novel cold that people are catching.
I don’t want it, but I’m not going to turn into any more of a hermit than I’ve been normally either.
