Pictures in Hungary

So when we learned that we were going to be going to Hungary in the near future I decided to buy the camera that I've been waiting to get for the past decade or so.

It's not that I was saving to get the camera. I was just waiting for Canon to make the camera I wanted.

They finally came through recently and released the 5D mark II. I suppose I could've (or perhaps should've) gotten the original 5D when that came out... but well. I guess I didn't.

I already have a cache of some fairly good lenses so the biggest thing was actually getting the camera itself. I also wanted to get the new 24-105 f4 L lens that comes packed in many of the kits. I originally looked online and found that B&H had the camera I wanted in stock (it gets sold out quickly) and almost ordered it from them. Except for passover. They, and their web site, close for passover. I found another site, ePhotoCraft, that had the same thing at the same price. I finally pulled the trigger last Friday.

Next was the predicament with the batteries. Almost no one has them in stock. Lots of folks in theory have them, but just not actually in stock. I ordered a set of generic batteries on ebay, another set of real genuine canon LP-6E batteries also on ebay and called up Dodd Camera downtown (local) to see if they had any. At this point I have two sets with a good lead on the third.

One of my bits of paranoia is that I'll run out of juice.

With three sets of batteries, I think I'll be just fine.

The way I figure it is even though we're going for not the best reasons, I might as well try to have some fun to balance things out. The "make lemonade" bit.

That's the pack I'm taking all packed up. Here's what's in it:

Also, if you notice up on the toolbar the "Photos" link... you might want to be checking that regularly to get updates as I add them!
