Hungary - Day 3

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed here. I'm expected to know how to get around Budapest -- walking, public transportation and driving. Expected to be an expert in all things financial in two countries. Expected to know two languages fluently enough to understand legal contracts. All while expected to keep a cheerful demeanor against all adversity.

I'll tell you that all can't happen.

Yesterday we took a left when we should've taken a right and that turn caused us to go on a tour of Budapest. People here drive as though they are insane. Absolutely insane. Maybe there's a method to their madness, but I've not figured it out completely yet.

Needless to say, that initial left (instead of right) caused a 45 minute delay.

I also snapped at everyone in the car.

I didn't want anyone talking or making noise such that I wasn't concentrating on the road and my surroundings. People took it personally. I don't care; I didn't want to get hit or hit somebody. I didn't want to kill anyone. If someone gets upset with me, so be it -- that's easier to get over than other possibilities.

The house is in a pretty good place with what's left there. Most of the things we consider valuable (not from a currency perspective) we have back at the hotel. Jenn was a massive help with that regard.

The lawyering has started. We have some initial contracts set up to pass my dad's truck to Gyula, his brother. The Harley is coming to me since Pete already has gotten a bike from our dad. Gyula is going to be responsible for selling the house, Pete and I are responsible for covering the costs associated with that sale. Gyula is responsible for taking and/or selling the remaining contents of the house and splitting the proceeds. That's roughly what I got out of the conversation with the lawyer. Let me tell you it's hard enough understanding a lawyer in your native tongue.

I do a good job understanding the Hungarian language on a conversational basis. I'm reasonably good at conveying what I mean to others. But when thing drift to medical, technical or legal things just fall apart for me.

On Wednesday we are having the services. Methinks it's going to be a rough day.
