Hungary - Day 6
This was mostly an off-day for us.
My mom met up with her friend Terike early in the morning (before anyone else was even awake at all) and they made some breakfast at her place. She seemed happy when she came back to the hotel. It seems that she got a bit more clued in about the Metro and the bus system.
En and I got the packages all ready to get mailed back home. We were about to head out to Margit Sziget, but En had the bright idea to mail the stuff right then and there. A good call if ever there was one. It took the better part of an hour to mail back three boxes of books, camera stuff, personal items and such. We had a choice between surface or air mail. Surface for around $200, air for $300. We opted for the air mail since it just seems more predictable and less likely to have something go wrong.
My mom and Pete went off on their own to do some touring around Budapest on a tour bus to see the sights of the city while we went off to see Margit-sziget which is one of the favorite things that we did last time. Lots of pictures to be had there.
Getting back to the hotel we were happy that we'd mailed everything that morning -- the post office was closing at 8, and would be closed on Saturday. If we hadn't mailed things back we could very well be in a situation that we'd loose Saturday trying to get things mailed.
Wrapping things up we went to get some dinner at Cafe Víg next to the Vígszínház. It was a great dinner of good food that's reasonably priced. En put it nicely: it's good food that doesn't try to be so gourmet that it forgets what it's actually trying to be.
At the end of the day we'd finished everything that we had to over the week. It's a good feeling to know that things are handled.
