30 Carbine - First shots with my new one
I finally found the time to clean the 30 carbine I purchased a month ago. I have a policy of always cleaning guns before I do anything with them. If I clean them I know what state they're in.It really was pretty clean, but some bits around the bolt were a bit dry. Knowing that things were lubricated makes me feel better. It shoots really well. Better than I do. Not that I have any mad rifle skillz or anything. The first time I shot a rifle of any type was last summer. Back then I shot my father-in-law's 30 carbine and my uncle-in-law's 45-70.Hand-held I was able to make a 4" group at 75 feet. I know that's nothing to write home about, but I'm more-or-less happy with the result. The one thing with the gun: it ejects the cases forward! I was only able to recover 27 of the 50 cases. :-( Oh well. It's fun to shoot anyway!
