Waiting periods

So as I wrote about not pulling the trigger… well, I lied. Ennie talked me into getting the S&W Model 41.It arrived at the FFL last Monday August 19th. I signed for the pickup that day and now I'm stuck in a Washington-imposed limbo while the county sheriff checks me out.Of course this only applies to hand guns. That are purchased legally. From an FFL. Keep in mind that I'll get a NICS check when I actually pick it up -- that would get run for both handguns and long guns. (Again, with the caveat of legal purchases from an FFL)The thought, I'm sure, is to cut down on crimes of passion. Let's have a collective eye-roll for that one.Let's start with the fact that I can pick from an assortment that I already keep locked up. The one added .22 isn't going to stack up to most anything else I have now. On top of that I could jus ask around in Pioneer Square and walk away with one for far less that I'm paying for this -- paying to be legal.Does it stop me from getting the gun quickly? Sure, I suppose it does. But it's only because I follow the laws. I'm the person you don't have to worry about because I follow scads of other ones already. You need to worry about the folks that don't follow any of them.
