Car trouble - Part 2
The mechanic came back and their likely culprit is spark plugs and a fuel system cleaning/refresh.
Honestly, that makes sense.
Internal combustion engines are shockingly simple when you get down to the fundamentals. All you need to get an engine to run is: air, fuel, and a spark. All the other gubbins around the engine just serves to make that happen.
Air, I’m pretty sure, is a solved problem in my car’s case. As long as the intake valves aren’t completely hosed, intake are will make it to the cylinders.
The other two, fuel and spark, are the obvious other part of the equation. Spark plugs and fuel filters are a wear item.
In all, it’s under my tolerance of $2k for the job. Around $1300. Still within acceptable for now.
