Engineer

I don’t like to call myself a “software engineer.” I’m a programmer. And I’ve never passed the professional engineering exam. I don’t get to call myself that. And I’m not driving trains either.

I’ve needed an actual engineer recently. For structural engineering.

He has a stamp. He can use it when he’s sure (as much as practical anyway) that some design is safe.

He’s an engineer.
